This was fantastic. Sexy, erotic and romantic are some words to describe it. Sweet, passionate and emotional are some more. I was heavily invested in reading this. I just had to know how their relationship was going to work out. Helena Hunting wrote some good characters for this book. They are very believable and relatable. Even as broken as these two characters are, I feel like I can relate with them on an emotional level. They have such strong backgrounds with emotional baggage but the chemistry between the two is like nothing else.
Hayden Stryker is a bad ass tattoo artist who is hot and sexy. He has a dark past that he doesn’t care to talk about. Tenley Page is a good girl with a rebellious side. She wants a tattoo; her family says no. She wants piercings; her family says no. What does Tenley do? She gets that tattoo and those piercings because she can cover them up and no one has to know. Tenley also has a dark past that she doesn’t care to share but life brings these two characters together and the attraction between them is something they can’t deny. They start to spend a lot of time together but parts of their pasts keep coming up. Some things they can handle and somethings not so much.
The writing in this book is great. I really felt every emotion that was portrayed. Helena Hunting does a good job at describing emotions. She also uses different descriptive words. I find that she is a sophisticated writer with a very large vocabulary. There were times I had to look a few words up in the dictionary because I didn’t know what they meant.
This is definitely a book for a mature audience. It has quite a few descriptive sex scenes that are not so appropriate for younger readers. I am really looking forward to reading Inked Armor which is book two in the series. This first book left off on a cliff hanger in their relationship and I need to know how it all comes together.
