If I Stay

Well, I can’t say I hated this, but I can’t say I loved it either. I don’t think I could get past the present and past perspectives. I didn’t care much for the past parts even though I know they play an important part. I just cared about knowing what was happening in the present. This book took me 8 days to read it and it only has 234 pages… I have read 400+ pages in less time… I do think the writing is good, so I would definitely read another Gayle Forman book I just didn’t care too much about this one.

It is very deep and emotional for such a short book. The first 20 pages had me up and then down quite fast. I also do not usually cry when I read books but this book had me in tears. Again, not a favourite but it was not a terrible book at all. I plan to read the second Where She Went to finish off the story and find out what happens.

Mia had everything: a loving family, a gorgeous, adoring boyfriend, and a bright future full of music and full of choices. Then, in an instant, almost all of that is taken from her. Caught between life and death, between a happy past and an unknowable future, Mia spends one critical day contemplating the only decision she has left - the most important decision she’ll ever make.

Simultaneously tragic and hopeful, this is a romantic, riveting, and ultimately uplifting story about memory, music, living, dying, loving.
