It Ends With Us

Once again, Colleen Hoover has written a beautifully powerful book. I actually don’t even know where to start with this review because I literally just came from reading it for ten hours straight. Cover to cover, I didn’t stop until it was done. I put my son to bed and watched TV with my husband and then about ten O’clock I started it and read it all through the night until eight O’clock in the morning. When I was finished, I was a blubbering mess, but that goes for every single Colleen Hoover book I’ve ever read. But then I just sat there for a few minutes to collect my thoughts. This book is powerful I tell you, enough to knock you on your ass and leave you there.

For this review, I am not going to be giving anything away. Usually, I will write about characters and their traits and the basic story-line. But I am not going to do this for this review as I went into this book fairly blind. I had read the synopsis when it was first released months ago and that was it. I didn’t read any reviews and even when I purchased the book, I didn’t read the back of it before reading like I normally would. I know that anything Colleen Hoover writes is going to be phenomenal and I don’t need a synopsis to remind me what it’s about. So for this very review, I am just going to tell you that I would like you to go into this blind as well.

Like Colleen said, this book is very personal to her. In her author’s note at the end, she says that her books are meant for entertainment. She doesn’t usually write to educate or persuade anyone, but this book held a deeper meaning to her and when I was reading this book, I felt a connection like I’ve never felt before. I’ve never felt so much while reading a book that’s supposed to be fiction. It sure didn’t feel like a fictional book. This book is raw and powerful. It’s realistic and relatable. It’s heartbreaking and emotional in all the senses. I smiled and frowned, and I laughed and I cried. It’s heartbreaking and eye-opening all at the same time.

This was my most anticipated book of this year. Colleen Hoover is my favourite author ever and she completely blew me away with this book. Like every other book of hers, this has the same great character development. The chemistry between characters and side characters is phenomenal, and it has the perfect story-line with amazing dialog and narration. Her writing blows me away each and every time I read her books. It doesn’t matter if I am reading them for the first time or for the tenth time. I highly recommend this book to anyone that is a CoHo fan and to anyone who has never read a single book by her, you will not be sorry. That is the Naked Truth.

Sometimes it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most.

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

With this bold and deeply personal novel, Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. Combining a captivating romance with a cast of all-too-human characters, It Ends With Us is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.
