Losing Hope

**This ARC was provided to me in exchange for an honest review**

This book definitely took me on a loop. From what I read in the synopsis, I was so curious as to what it could be about. I had an idea, but I was wrong. I was totally not expecting the book to be about what it was. From the first chapter I was sucked into this emotional roller-coaster. Not really expecting what I was reading, I had a mountain of emotions to get through. Both heart-wrenching and heartwarming, and both sad and happiness throughout.

The main character, Hope, has been through a lot. More than some people have got through in their entire lives, she went through in a matter of a year. I can’t even begin to tell you what happened to her because it will give the book away. I want you to go into this book as blind as I did. Just know that, Hope is a good girl who loves her family and her friends and is a good person all around. What happened to her, she didn’t deserve but in the end things work out for her.

I would like to say that there are two guys in her life. No one is cheated on or anything shady like that, but there is sort of an indirect love triangle that makes things quite interesting. Ian and Damien are the two main male characters. Both are sweet guys who care for Hope so much. They have a lot of the same qualities and I think that’s what makes this “triangle” interesting. The chain of events that happen throughout this book makes you root for both guys at different times. Each one of them are good people and could both be very good for Hope and her situation. But, in the end you can only have one. I can say that I was certainly surprised with how the book ended.

This is the first book by Heidi Lis that I’ve read. To be honest, I haven’t even heard about her before reading this book. I read the synopsis and was intrigued and then requested and ARC. I was pleasantly surprised when I was accepted. I’m happy to be introduced to this author and with this book. I love a good romance story and one with a certain edge to it that really makes me feel things. The writing is great, there wasn’t a time where I was bored. I felt all the emotions that these characters were feeling and I felt the chemistry between certain characters as well.

I would consider this a New Adult novel with subject matters that may upset some people. Love, loss, grief and hardship are all in this book. I think it should be read by mature readers. There is language, a bit of violence and some sexual content throughout.

For the last year and a half, you could sum up my life in one word… disastrous.
One simple phone call was all it took
to change my life forever.
If I could go back and do it again, what would I change?

What should have been one of the best days of my life turned into the absolute worst.
Cast in a shadow that turns my days dark, and my nights even darker.
Before I can put the pain of the past behind me, I need to fix what’s broken.

The first step is believing it can be done, the second is forgiveness.
But forgiveness doesn’t come easy, least of all for who is to blame.

For every choice, there are consequences.
Some good.
Some bad.
Some simply unforgivable.

One poor choice made me the target of a sociopath.
And once again, I’m reminded just how cruel life can be.
I’ve come to learn after every storm, the sun shines again
And, someone taught me life is only worth living if you smile.
It took almost losing him for me to understand.
What would I change?
Everything, but him!
