Neighbor Dearest

I love a well-rounded romance novel and this book has it all. From the very beginning I was intrigued, from the funny characters to the sexy banter between the male and female. This book has all the qualities for a perfect romance. Sappy and corny, loving and funny, and definitely sexy and flirty. I know that’s a lot of descriptive words for a book, but it’s all the ones I can think of right now. Now that I’ve read a few of Penelope Ward’s books, I can say she is definitely becoming a favourite author. Her books are really simple and easy to read. Great characters with awesome chemistry. The dialog makes you smile the whole way through.

Chelsea is our main girl, she just moved into a building and lives beside a ridiculously hot guy who has two dogs. These dogs bark all morning long and it causes Chelsea to lose sleep. She decides to take it upon herself to confront her hot neighbour. He tells her to take it up with the landlord instead. So, that’s what Chelsea does and it turns out that hot neighbour, Damien, is also the landlord. The more interactions they have with each other, the more they actually become friends. Chelsea develops feelings for Damien and he tells her up front that he doesn’t do relationships and he’s not in it for the long haul. No marriage or kids for him.

What I love about this book is that it’s not an insta-love. I’m all for insta-loves, but with this book I was glad that it wasn’t like that. Even though Chelsea likes Damien early on, it doesn’t really affect their friendship. They do have incredible chemistry though, with insane sexual attraction. I just loved reading their bickering back and forth, or the way they flirted with each other. Cheesy in all reality, but that’s what makes a great romance novel. It wouldn’t be the same without it.

I highly recommend this book and this author. This is the third book I’ve read by Penelope ward now – including when she co-writes with Vi Keeland. This is definitely a New Adult novel. Not intended for younger readers. There is hot and heavy sex scenes and mature content.

A STANDALONE NOVEL that does NOT need to be read in conjunction with any other book.

From New York Times bestselling author, Penelope Ward, comes a friends-to-lovers story with sexy new characters.

After getting dumped, the last thing I needed was to move next door to someone who reminded me of my ex-boyfriend, Elec.

Damien was a hotter version of my ex.

The neighbor I’d dubbed “Angry Artist” also had two massive dogs that kept me up with their barking.

He wanted nothing to do with me. Or so I thought until one night I heard laughter coming through an apparent hole in my bedroom wall.

Damien had been listening to all of my phone sessions with my therapist.

The sexy artist next door now knew all of my deepest secrets and insecurities.

We got to talking.

He set me straight with tips to get over my breakup.

He became a good friend, but Damien made it clear that he couldn’t be anything more.

Problem was, I was falling hard for him anyway. And as much as he pushed me away, I knew he felt the same…because his heartbeat didn’t lie.

I thought my heart had been broken by Elec, but it was alive and beating harder than ever for Damien.

I just hoped he wouldn’t shatter it for good.

Author's note – Neighbor Dearest is a full-length standalone novel. Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.
