I know that the description is vague, but with this book I think you should go into it blind. It’s nothing like Colleen has written before. I’m not sure about the books that Tarryn writes because I haven’t read anything by her yet, but it’s not like your normal Contemporary Romance novel. It has a sort of paranormal vibe to it with the whole memory loss thing. I really enjoyed it though. I was sucked right into it right from the first chapter. If you are a fan of Colleen Hoover like I am, you will be able to tell which chapters she writes by her unique writing style.
The basis of the book is these two characters Charlie and Silas have lost their memories. They know deep down that they are meant to figure it out together as they are the only ones this is happening too. They can’t tell anyone because people might think they are crazy and so they set off on this adventure together. Right away I was drawn to their personalities. This would definitely show someones character because when they have lost their memories, are they acting just like they would have before they lost them or are they completely two different people now? Like I said I think you should go into this book blind and I don’t want to give too much away so this is going to be a short review. I’m not even going to talk about the characters individually because I want you to find that out yourself.
The first book is them realizing that they have lost their memories and that they have to work together to figure out why and how to get them back. The second book is my favourite as they are in full mystery mode, trying to figure it out. The ending leaves on such a steep cliffhanger. I was so glad I had all three parts to read right in a row because I wouldn’t have known what I would have done if I had to read that second part with that big of a cliffhanger. The third part starts right after the second ends and just right back into the swing of things. I loved how everything all came together, but I was a little disappointed in the ending as I think it ended too quick. It seemed that they got lazy in the writing or they just didn’t know how to end it properly, but either way it’s a decent ending.
I’m really happy that I read this book and now that I have read all of Colleen Hoover’s books, I can finally put this one on the scale of her favourites. I definitely recommend this book to every CoHo fan and Tarryn Fisher fan. I personally have not read anything by Tarryn yet but I definitely plan on it now that I know what her writing style is like.
