I brought them to the wilderness because we couldn’t cope with our reality.

The plan was to make a new life that didn’t include heartache.

No people. No technology. No interference.

Just us.

A chance to piece together what was broken.

But the wilderness is untamed and harsh.

Brutal and unforgiving.

It doesn’t give a damn about your feelings.

Tragedy lives there too.

No escaping the truths that won’t let you go.

All you can do is survive where love, no matter how beastly, is the only thing you can truly count on.

Confusing. Wrong. Twisted. Beautiful. Sick.

Love is wild.

And we’re going to set it free.

The Wild is an extremely taboo story. Most will find that the themes in this book will make you incredibly uncomfortable. This book is only for the brave, the open-minded, and the ones who crave love in even the most dismal of situations. Extreme sexual themes and violence in certain scenes, which could trigger emotional distress, are found in this story. If you are sensitive to heavy taboo themes, then this story is not for you.

My Review

*ARC was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

If you’ve ever wanted to read a taboo book, but weren’t sure on which one to start with – this book isn’t the one to choose. Not that this book isn’t good, because it is. But, it’s a very dark, twisted taboo that isn’t for the faint of heart. Even people who are used to reading taboo reads will most likely find this book uncomfortable. You have to really have an open mind and be ready to read just about anything. The Wild is just that – wild. It’s terrifying, it’s mad, it’s crazy and it’s bad.

If you can open your mind and get past the taboo aspect of it, then you’ll see it has a romantic side to it. Is it conventional? No. Is it right? No. But, then again, who is to tell us what is and what isn’t. That may sound weird and because I won’t be spoiling anything about this book, you’ll just have to make your own decision. But like I said, you need to take the warning seriously. It’s not fair to the author if the clear warning is there, then you read it and think it’s not for you and then rate it bad. You’re not taking into consideration the writing, the storyline, the characters and their thoughts and feelings.

K. Webster has a way with words. She writes in a way that doesn’t make you feel like you’re reading a naughty book. Her stories are so well thought out, and written in a way that it’s much more than a taboo story. You get true thoughts and emotions from these characters she writes and builds up. It makes it easy to get caught up in their world and forget what you’re reading. Not saying that the book is forgettable, because that is just not true. The Wild will be engraved into my heart and soul. A book I will always remember as being something so out of the box, but hundreds, even thousands of people will read and love.

I give this book a true five out of five stars. I couldn’t put it down, I couldn’t stop reading it. It was really hard to be a responsible adult the day I got it because I needed to keep reading. I needed to know how this book was going to end. There are a lot of wild events that take place and it keeps you on your toes, turning the next page. I’m so glad that I was able to get this book early and to leave a review like this. I know that I’m not actually saying anything about the book, but from the synopsis and the warning, you should be able to judge if this book is for you or not.

This book is not suitable for young readers. It might not even be suitable for older readers. There is strong language, violence, and sex throughout. Taboo topics that might not be for everyone and triggers for some as well.
