See Through Heart

I can honestly say that I loved this book and I couldn’t put it down. Going into this blindly, I didn’t even remember signing up for it. I had a vague memory that I did, but I had no idea what it was about. When it showed up in my Kindle library one night, I couldn’t help but start it right away. I started it at about 11:00 at night and read all the way into the morning. Having to go to sleep because I have a toddler, I was able to get some sleep and do some more reading while my child ate or napped. Once he was in bed that night I got right back to it and finished within a few hours.

I can’t get over the story and how real it is. It’s very emotional. It’s powerful, romantic, sexy and also heartbreaking and sad. There are a lot of emotions packed full in this book, ready to be brought out. Once you start reading, you won’t be able to hold them back. The characters in this book are well thought out and portrayed in a way where I felt like I was one of them. I was their friend growing up with them and experiencing everything they were. The storyline is very believable and real. The sentences flowed nicely and it was very easy to read. Written in first person view of both Ainsley and Adrian, their inner dialog was spot on. I felt like I was apart of their world, feeling everything they felt, together and alone.

The story starts with Ainsley and Lori, who are cousins and best friends. Lori lives with Ainsley and her mom because her own mother left her when she was a baby for drugs and alcohol. Ainsley’s mother took her in and loved her like her own daughter. The girls spend all their time together and the love they had for each other was like nothing else. Ainsley is a very loving, kind girl. With a big heart she is always ready to help people and help fix their problems. Lori is a little bit more closed off. Being abandoned as a child, it takes a little longer to open up to people. But when they both meet Adrian, things changed for the better.

Adrian and his father moved in next door to them. Having lost his mother and sister just a month before, he was a bit sad. He always had a smile on his face for the girls though. They were his shining light, his pretty girls. Lori really took to Adrian because they had a connection of losing their moms. Ainsley fell in love with him right away too. All three kids spent all their time together. Through thick and thin they were inseparable. As they all got older, Lori pulled away a bit. Following in the not-so-good crowd at school, she was getting drunk and high and staying out late at night. When tragedy struck, it took everyone by surprise. No one could deal with the heartbreak and loss of a life that meant so much to them.

That is all I am willing to tell you, but just know that you will not be disappointed. There is quite a bit that happens in this book. The storyline is bigger than what I initially thought and I’m so happy that the author went the way she did. I was pleasantly surprised with this book. The characters, the dialog, the plot. Everything about it was spectacular and I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Though, it may seem like this is an innocent book that may be suitable for younger readers. I can tell you that it’s not. There is quite a bit of sexual content, mature scenes that should not be read by young people.

Ainsley came into my life in a flurry of vibrant colors, lighting my world up when all seemed lost.

It wasn’t our quiet nights by the creek or stolen kisses surrounded by a sea of cotton that saved me.

It was her.

She was my comfort when life threw one ugly tragedy after another at me.

Until she dealt me the greatest blow.

Now, abandonment, betrayal, and death darken every corner of my life. Anger and hurt burn bright where love and trust once lived.

But, now, she’s back. Sure, she’s changed, but I see through it—straight to her heart.
