What a fantastic book. I thoroughly enjoyed this. At first I was a little turned off by the size of it. I had never read a New Adult Contemporary Romance novel that was almost 500 pages. But considering the story that’s inside those pages, it definitely makes up for it. It needs all of those pages to tell this great story. It’s very descriptive writing, which I love because it paints the perfect picture in your head as you’re reading it.
I really like the plot. I haven’t really read any road trip type of books before and I especially love the idea of these two people meeting on a bus and their journey together. It just seems so unique to me. It’s definitely an emotional journey for them and for the reader. There were many times where I felt many things. It definitely had some funny moments. Very happy, giddy times, but also some sad and heartbreaking times as well. I definitely teared up for a few parts.
I love Andrew’s character. He is free-spirited and carefree. He’s sweet and caring as well. Always wanting to protect Camryn even though they just met. Camryn is a bit reserved. She doesn’t know what she wants in life, that’s why she took her trip. She was on the road to nowhere. Not very outspoken and afraid to speak her mind. Andrew helps her overcome these fears of hers. I just love their relationship. From the friendship aspect, right down to the love they have for each other.
A few plot twists definitely kept me on my toes and I am both excited and nervous to start the second book The Edge of Always. I just feel that this book had everything going for it and I fear that the second book is going to ruin the characters and story line that I came to love in this first one.
Being as this book is in the New Adult genre, I would definitely recommend this to anyone over the age of 17/18 years old. There is quite a bit of detailed sexual content which may not be suitable for younger readers. All-in-all this is a fantastic book and I am happy that I picked it up and own it for my shelves.
